Anxiety Counselling in Loughborough

If anxiety is making everyday life harder, talking it through with a qualified therapist can help. I’m Tim Dalton, a BACP-registered counsellor and psychotherapist based in Loughborough, offering anxiety counselling in person, online and by telephone.

Understanding anxiety

Anxiety is the body’s natural response to stress, but when worry becomes constant or overwhelming it can affect sleep, relationships, work and your sense of wellbeing. You don’t have to manage it on your own. Counselling offers a calm, confidential space to understand what’s driving the anxiety and to develop practical ways of coping.
Anxiety can show up as:
  • Persistent worry or racing thoughts
  • Trouble sleeping or relaxing
  • A racing heart, tension or restlessness
  • Avoiding people, places or situations
  • Panic attacks or feeling constantly on edge
  • Difficulty concentrating or feeling overwhelmed

How counselling helps with anxiety

Together we’ll look at the thoughts, feelings and patterns that keep anxiety going, and build tools you can use day to day. The aim isn’t just to ease the symptoms but to help you feel more grounded, more confident and more in control of your life. Therapy is led by you, at a pace that feels safe.

My approach

I work in an integrative way, which means I draw on different therapeutic approaches and tailor the work to you rather than a one-size-fits-all method. For anxiety this often includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to work with unhelpful thinking patterns, alongside Person-Centred and Attachment-based approaches to understand the deeper roots. I’m a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Common questions

Is what I say confidential?

Yes — what you share is confidential, within the professional and ethical limits of the BACP Ethical Framework. I’ll explain how this works when we first meet.

How many sessions will I need?

It varies from person to person. Some people come for a handful of sessions to work on something specific; others stay longer. We review how things are going together and there’s no obligation to continue.

How long is each session?

Sessions are usually around 50 minutes, at a regular weekly time that suits you.
