In Person Counselling

In Person Counselling

telephone counsellingThis is the traditional form of therapy that takes place in person and usually in a designated counselling room. The sessions are 50 minutes long and involve conversation which allows the client to explore and work through issues or problems that they may have. Importantly the counsellor is non-judgemental and will treat what is said in the session as confidential. The relationship between the therapist and the client is very important for effective counselling. Unless the client feels comfortable to be able to share anything they want in the session, the effect of counselling will be considerably impaired. In line with this view I always offer a free counselling session, or assessment, in order that clients can meet me before committing to therapy.

Unlike the other platforms for therapy, it requires being present in Loughborough. It is argued by some as being the only truly effective form of therapy, but that does not necessarily mean that one of the other platforms will not also be appropriate. While the breadth of possible communication is the largest for in person counselling (audio, visual and any subtle changes in body language or other non verbal communication), telephone, skype and online chat are also very effective. If travelling to Loughborough for counselling is inconvenient or just not appropriate, then one of the other platforms maybe more suitable.
